About Dart For Art: Fueling Youth Arts in Ann Arbor
The Dart For Art: The Ann Arbor Mile brings together community and elite runners for a one-mile race through the heart of Ann Arbor — and serves as the primary fundraising engine for the Ann Arbor Street Art Fair – The Original, the charitable initiative that sustains free, accessible arts programming for young people throughout the Ann Arbor community. Proceeds from the event directly support:

• The Original Art Packs for AAPS — a $100,000 art supply initiative providing a backpack of high-quality, curriculum-aligned supplies to 1,300 Ann Arbor Public High School students in grades 9–12, ensuring every student has the tools to participate fully in the Youth Art Fair if they choose to apply. Student canvases will come together as The Original Student Mural, debuting at Dart For Art and the Ann Arbor Street Art Fair in July 2027.
• Youth Art Fair — an annual showcase where young artists display and sell their original work alongside professional artists at the Ann Arbor Street Art Fair – The Original.
• NANA (New Art, New Artists) — a juried college student program that gives six Michigan college artists the opportunity to exhibit and sell their work at the fair alongside professional artists at the fair, with free participation and 100% of sales going directly to the students.
• The Art Activity Zone — a free, all-ages, hands-on space where attendees of every age can make art.
• The Art Demo Zone — professional artists demonstrate their techniques live, giving the public an up-close look at the creative process.
• The Fountain Stage — free live performances bringing music and community together at the heart of the fair.

These programs are a cornerstone of the Ann Arbor Street Art Fair, The Original — a 501(c)(3) non-profit and the longest-running of the three Ann Arbor Art Fair events. The Original has been presenting world-class juried art alongside transformative community programming since 1960. Learn more at ArtFair.org.
